Welcome to the Center for Food Animal Well-Being at Purdue University!
The Center is a collaborative effort between the School of Agriculture, the School of Veterinary Medicine and the USDA-ARS Livestock Behavior Research Unit.
This website contains further information about the Center's activities, the people involved with ongoing behavioral and well-being research and about some of the opportunities that Purdue University has to offer.





Mission


To advance the understanding of interactions between food animal productivity and well-being to enable a scientific and public policy climate which promotes animal well-being and supports economically viable food animal production systems.

    Goals of the Center

  1. Coordinate and enhance interdisciplinary research and education on food animal well-being

  2. Serve as the focal point of a "Virtual Center" involving other groups having a compatible mission.

  3. Enlarge the scientific basis for food animal well-being.

  4. Enhance public understanding of food animal production systems and increase the trust and confidence of the public in animal agriculture.
