The Distinguished Agricultural Alumni Award honors mid-career Purdue Agriculture graduates who have made significant contributions to their profession or society in general and have a record of outstanding accomplishments. One Animal Sciences alumnus was recognized by the College of Agriculture and the Department of Animal Sciences on March 6, 2009.
Christopher D. Knight, St. Charles, Mo. Chris Knight received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Animal Sciences (monogastric nutrition) in 1977 and 1981, respectively. Following graduation, Chris began his career as a Research Specialist and Group Leader with Monsanto Company. Progressing rapidly through the ranks at Monsanto, he is currently Vice President for Research and Development at Novus International Inc., the division spun off when Monsanto reorganized. There he develops innovative feed products and works to improve their use with farm animals. He helped Novus expand from poultry nutrition research into product development for swine, ruminant, aquaculture, companion animal and equine markets in the United States, China, Brazil and Vietnam. Chris received Purdue's Animal Sciences Distinguished Alumni Award in 2006.
