1. Animalia's Costa Rica Spring Break Trip

Trip is March 29 to April 6, 2013 - Registration deadline is November 30

If you have been considering joining Animalia on its Spring Break trip to the world's most rainforest friendly country, Costa Rica, ACT NOW as registration ends Nov. 30.  You have the opportunity to take the journey of a lifetime with Animalia's Zoologist and Animal Behaviorist.

With the greatest diversity of species on the planet, the rainforests hold 50% of the world's plants and animals, yet makes up less than 2% of the land mass on Earth. Come experience the most celebrated rainforest of Central America in Costa Rica with Animalia for 9 days of excitement from March 29-April 6, 2013. Animalia's Zoologist, Joel Vanderbush, will lead you through this world of natural wonders to experience firsthand the value of this precious ecosystem about which Animalia is regularly teaching and promoting its conservation and protection.

This all inclusive trip explores the Arenal region of Costa Rica, a canopy adventure... Learn more and register here.

Scholarships

1. Certified Angus Beef - Colvin Scholarships

Developed in 1999 as Louis M. “Mick” Colvin retired as Executive Director, the scholarship recognizes his role in making dreams a reality and inspiring others to be their best. Colvin co-founded the Certified Angus Beef Program in 1978, leading it to provide the world’s leading brand of fresh beef. The scholarship fund benefits tomorrow’s leaders who are involved in their communities and the beef industry.

This year, $15,000 will be split among five undergraduate scholarships, in the amounts of $5,000, $4,000, $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000. College juniors and seniors who have shown commitment to the beef industry, either through coursework or activities, are encouraged to apply by the Dec. 7 deadline. Applications are evaluated on involvement and scholastic achievement, communication skills and reference letters.

A new opportunity, an additional $5,000 graduate level scholarship will be awarded to a deserving full-time masters or doctorate student conducting research related to high quality beef production. Applications for that award are due Jan. 11, 2013.

The top undergraduate and graduate scholarship recipients will win an all-expense-paid trip to the 2013 Certified Angus Beef ® Annual Conference, September 18-20 in Palm Desert, California!  This is an opportunity to interact with leaders throughout the production, packing, retail and foodservice industries.

Application information is available at http://www.certifiedangusbeef.com/press/colvin/index.php.

Fulltime Positions

1. Corydon High School Ag Teacher

Corydon High School recently had their ag teacher resign and they are looking for a replacement now. Start time could be immediate or next semester I am guessing.

2. Farm Credit - Loan Officer, Washington, IN

The other position I wanted to ask about is for a loan officer in our Washington, IN office with Farm Credit.

A past graduate or a December grad either would be fine for this position. Just would like someone that will be staying in the area long term.

If you know someone that might be interested in either of these positions let me know and I'll get some more information for them. They can contact me directly as well.
