2. TA Positions for ANSC 102

Want to TA ANSC 10200, Introduction to Animal Sciences in the Fall, 2013? We are seeking five enthusiastic students who enjoy interacting with freshmen students and are professional enough to represent Purdue Animal Sciences well.

You must have a two hour block of time on Friday to conduct one of the five laboratory sections of 40 students. The labs meet in ASTL at 7:30-9:20, 9:30-11:20, 11:30-1:20, 1:30-3:20, and 3:30–5:20. You will be responsible for meeting once per week with the course leadership team, writing and grading the weekly quiz, conducting the weekly lab, maintaining the grades and attendance records, and being a resource and coordinator for your section.

This will consume about five hours most weeks and can be remunerated with ANSC 49300 credit or payment. Please submit by April 8 a letter of application stating your motivation, strengths, and availability to serve in this role along with a current resume to Dawn Gulik at dstaub@purdue.edu in POUL 112 or Dr. Mark Russell mrussell@purdue.edu. Positions will be announced by April 22.

1. Research Assistant Position (Undergraduate)

Our research team is looking for a responsible highly motivated student with a strong interest in science to join the laboratory. No experience necessary but must have a strong desire to learn. Research areas include molecular biology, nutrition, and physiology of domestic livestock and laboratory animals. Opportunities exist for continued employment through semester breaks and summer.

This may be the experience you are seeking if you are considering Graduate School or a career in science. The hours are flexible and environment is collegial.

2. Purdue Agricultural Centers Experience (PACE)

Agricultural Research at Purdue and the Office of Academic Programs in the College of Agriculture are sponsoring a new joint venture to promote undergraduate research. PACE is now accepting applications for research projects for summer 2013!

Purpose: PACE is designed to expose undergraduate students who have little or no farm experience to applied research at one of the eight Purdue Agricultural Centers (PACs). Under the leadership of a faculty member, undergraduates will be engaged in research at one or multiple PACs.

Duration: flexible but around May 20-August 2, 2013

Application Deadline: Monday, April 8, 2013

Benefits: $3,900 stipend and $600 housing allowance for the 11-week program

Location: a majority of the time will be spent on the farms

3. Internships with Animalia

With moving to our new facility in Thorntown on US 52, we are only 40 minutes from campus. With our expansion, we have many projects constructing and expanding animal enclosures. Our Education Outreach programs are gearing up for one of the busiest summers ever with over 150 animal programs already booked and more booking every day. Interns assist with the presentations by handling and presenting animals to the public alongside our professional staff. Wildlife Rehabilitation season is about to begin so there will be many orphaned baby animals to care for as well.

College students and graduates who wish to apply for an internship should include the following in their application packet:
