1. Fall Pork Career Night

The Purdue University Pork Interest Group is hosting the Fall Pork Career Night where you can hear from PIC, The Maschhoffs, Indiana Kitchen, Elanco Animal Health, Novus, and JBS United representatives about careers and internships in commercial production, seed stock, feed sales, processing, pharmaceutical sales, nutrition, and production.

Trillium Farms is Ohio's largest egg processing company. This role is responsible for the overall success of the Biosecurity and Environmental compliance, as well as quality assurance for Trillium Farms. Part-time Positions


1. Swine Farm Student Position

Del Guard Swine Farm just West of West Lafayette is looking for someone to power wash and grind feed. Hours are flexible but would be about 10-20 hours/ week. Pay is based on experience, and you have the opportunity to learn from a great mentor. For more information, call (765) 426-3531. They would like you to start as soon as possible.


2. Hunter Dorsets Farm and Livestock Work

Local sheep operation with 275 breeding ewes needs weekday and weekend help with farming and livestock. Farm machinery and livestock experience is required. Tasks consist of hay making, manure hauling, cleaning, machinery and facility maintenance, lambing, and general work associated with a livestock farm.

Hours: 8-25 hours/week

Salary: $9.50- $12.00 depending on experience

3. Harvest Help Needed

Part-time harvest help is needed for specialty grain (white corn and seed soybeans). Farm is in northern Montgomery County. Grain cart operators and semi drivers needed. Harvest driving is from field to on-farm storage; no elevator deliveries. Basic driving/ mechanical ability and knowledge are needed. Training is available for specific equipment. Farm operation is located 20 miles South of Purdue. Flexible shifts are available to accommodate classes. Evening and weekend shifts available for more hours. Benefits include $15/hour and compensation for Purdue students would include one hour of travel time for each workday.

Internships/ Summer Work


1. Equine Breeding Farm Internship

The Equine Reproduction Laboratory at Colorado State University is accepting applications for this internship which will begin on January 1, 2014 and end December 30, 2014. A second intern will begin on July 1 and finish on June 30, 2015. The goal of the program is to provide advanced training in equine breeding farm procedures and management. While this is a non-degree program, a certificate will be provided at completion as well as job placement assistance if requested.

Benefits: A salary will be provided, and interns will live in an apartment on-site on the Foothills Campus of Colorado State University. Rent is required as with all on-campus housing.

Qualifications: Must have recently completed a BS degree in Equine or Animal Sciences or related discipline.

2. Uncommon Leadership Seminar with Coach Hazell

Purdue Head Football Coach Darrell Hazell will address uncommon leadership, pillars to succeed as a student and employee, the importance of teamwork and communication, and integrity and preseverance- how character counts during this seminar.
