74th IBEP BULL SALE SUMMARY
Highest Average Price for IBEP

A nice crowd was on hand at the Springville Feeder Auction on Saturday, October 18 for the 74th IBEP Bull Sale held in conjunction with the Springville Feeder Auction Association's Heifer and Cow Sale. About 120 buyers from Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and Kentucky registered for the combined sale.

Bulls were in high demand and bidding was brisk. The sale average was $3,965, which is the highest for an IBEP sale, and all bulls sold. Auctioneer Mike Berger, Bremen, IN topped the sale with the 20th bull in the ring.

Angus #130 topped the sale at $8,750. He was consigned by Home Acres Farm Inc., Lebanon, OH and was sired by Home Acres CC&7 7118. He had a Performance Index of 111.6 and was a member of the top Performance Indexing get-of-sire group. The other three bulls in that get also sold, Angus #128 for $6,500, Angus #129 for $4,900, and Angus #131 for $3,100.

There were several other high-selling bulls. SimAngus #110 from Rustic Hills Cattle Company, Fort Branch, IN sold for $6,500. He was sired by W/C United 956Y. Angus #103 from Dolph Angus, Walkerton, IN sold for $5,500. He was sired by Hoover Dam. Angus #75 from Small Cattle Farms, Bloomfield, IN sold for $5,400. He was sired by SS Mandate X35 and had the highest Performance Index in the test (126.9).

Of the 37 bulls offered, all sold for an average of $3,965. This was the highest sale average of 50 sales held at Springville. Bulls were purchased by 31 individuals from four states. Thirty-four bulls were sold to Indiana buyers, one to Illinois, one to Iowa, and one to Kentucky.

On the tables below, note high-selling bulls of each breed and their consignor. Also, the number sold, average, and top for 50 auctions held at Springville, and the number sold and averages for each breed.

The 2014 Winter Performance Test will begin with delivery on Tuesday, October 28. Seedstock producers from Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin have entered bulls. Breeds represented include Angus, Charolais, Hereford, Red Angus, Simmental, and SimAngus. The 75th IBEP Bull Sale will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 6:00 pm at the Springville Feeder Auction and broadcast live via DVAuction Services.
