75th IBEP BULL SALE SUMMARY
Top Average Price for IBEP

A nice crowd was on hand at the Springville Feeder Auction on Thursday, April 16 for the 75th IBEP Bull Sale. Over 150 buyers from several states registered to bid on 98 top quality bulls representing six breeds. In addition, the sale was broadcast live via the internet by DVAuction Services. Two remote sites in Indiana viewed the sale, plus additional viewers throughout the U.S.

Bulls were in high demand and bidding was brisk. The sale average was $4,217, which is $252 higher than the best sale average, and all but one bull sold. Auctioneer Mike Berger, Bremen, IN topped the sale with the third bull in the ring.

Angus bull #140 topped the sale at $8,000. Bull #140 was consigned by KB Farms LLC, Merritt, MI and sired by AAR Ten X 7008 SA. His Performance Index was 109.5, with a Carcass Merit Index of 102.6. His EPDs were in the top 10% of the breed for Weaning Weight, Yearling Weight, Direct Calving Ease, Carcass Weight, Marbling, and five $ Indexes.

Angus #15 sold for $7,000. He had a Performance Index of 126.3, which was the highest in the sale. He was consigned by Bill Washburn, Olney, IL and sired by EXAR Upshot 0562B. Bill Washburn also consigned Angus #20, who sold for $6,500 and sired by Hoover Dam.

Angus #36 sold for $7,000. He was consigned by Stewart Select Angus, Greensburg, IN and sired by Hoover Dam.

Angus #12 sold for $6,250. He had a Carcass Merit Index of 132.1, which was the highest in the sale. He was consigned by Kohli Farms, Circleville, OH and sired by GAR Prophet.

Angus #152 sold for $6,250. He was consigned by Cardinal Hill Farms, Glasgow, KY and sired by SydGen Trust 6228. Cardinal Hill Farms also consigned Angus #149, who sold for $6,200 and was sired by AAR Ten X 7008 SA.

Angus #57 sold for $6,200. He was consigned by Tucker Family Farms, Spencer, IN and sired by SydGen Trust 6228.

Angus #183 sold for $6,000. He was consigned by Gajewski Farms, Nashville, IL and sired by AAR Ten X 7008 SA.

Of the 98 bulls offered, 97 sold for an average of $4,217. This was the highest sale average of 51 sales held at Springville. Thirteen bulls went to buyers at remote sites, and two to other internet buyers. Bulls were purchased by 87 individuals from four states; 91 bulls were sold to Indiana buyers, three to Illinois, two to Kentucky, and one to Ohio.

On the tables below, note high-selling bulls of each breed and their consignor. Also, the number sold, average, and top for 51 auctions held at Springville, and the number sold and averages for each breed.

The 2015 Summer Performance Test began with delivery on Tuesday, April 28. The 76th IBEP Bull Sale will be held on Saturday afternoon, October 17, 2015 at the Springville Feeder Auction. The sale will be held in conjunction with the Springville Feeder Auction Association's Cow and Heifer Sale. Cows will begin selling at 2:00 pm, and bulls will sell immediately following.
