The White House: Office of Public Relations

“The internship has helped me realize the importance of truly caring about others and making time for what is important… PEOPLE!”

The most exciting part of my job was being able to walk up to work every day and see the beautiful American landmark of the White House. I felt very fortunate that our office worked so closely with the President. This allowed me to see the President often and get a glimpse of what his life is like. I enjoyed being able to meet and connect with so many fantastic people. I took a picture with Nolan Ryan shook hands with Olympic athletes and was fortunate to work with a great group of leaders. One skill I learned was the importance of investing my time in quality work. It is never beneficial to sacrifice quality when you are working in the White House. That project you work on could very well be seen by the President himself. Therefore, it is important to invest in quality work. Always strive to do your best and then some. The internship has helped me realize the importance of truly caring about others and making time for what is important… PEOPLE! People are what matter most and they do not care what you have done or what you know, until they know how much you care!

Involve yourself with activities [where] you are called on to reach a state of excellence. Seek out the opportunities you have before you because they are abundant. Carpe Diem… Seize the day!!! In addition, life is all about connections. Be sure to make time to invest in relationships. Doing this will take you far in life! Working in the White House was an honor and privilege. I was so humbled to have been blessed with that experience. You never know what lessons, relationships and experiences await you around the corner. So live a full life with no regrets and take advantage of the opportunities in front of you.
