Oviduct
The infundibulum of the oviduct surrounds the ovary and collects the ova.
The oviduct is about 10 inches long and serves as the site of fertilization.
The zygotes remain in the oviduct for about 2 to 3 days before entering the uterine horns.
Sperm are transported from the cervix where they are deposited by the boar or AI catheter to the upper 1/3 of the oviduct by muscular contractions of the female reproductive system.
